Primary goal of elective: Gain knowledge and skills of airway and vascular lines and monitors, based on perioperative evaluations.
Specific objectives:
- Select preoperative medications for anxiety and pain.
- Describe characteristics of commonly used anesthetics.
- Properly secure airways and titrate fluids.
- Attend Tuesday morning lectures with residents and complete evaluation form.
- Learn about chronic pain and how to communicate this with patients and staff once a week at pain clinic at 1801 Fairfield.
